What affects value

Exact reference, metal, dial, bracelet, production year, condition, service history, completeness and originality of major components.

Indicative European market ranges in EUR. Exact value depends on reference, configuration, condition, originality, service history, completeness and current demand. This is editorial guidance, not a purchase offer or investment advice.

Model story.

Introduced in the early 1950s, the Submariner was created as a professional underwater instrument. Its rotating timing bezel, luminous display and robust Oyster case formed a visual and functional formula that influenced generations of dive watches.

The model evolved through crown guards, improved depth ratings, new movements, sapphire crystals and ceramic bezels, while preserving an unusually stable identity.

Collector note

No-date versions offer the purest dial balance; date versions are more practical and often more visible on the market.

Buyer guide.

Check the reference-specific configuration, bezel alignment, bracelet condition, service history and consistency between serial-era components. Box and papers help, but condition and originality matter more.

TimeHunter Insight
The Submariner is easiest to buy badly when demand makes the buyer rush. Choose condition and coherence before chasing the lowest available price.
