Model story.
The Cosmograph was introduced for timing speed over distance and became associated with the Daytona racing environment. Early manually wound examples were initially niche compared with later demand.
Automatic generations transformed the model commercially, first with modified external-base movements and later with Rolex’s own chronograph calibres.

Buyer guide.
Confirm correct dial, bezel, pushers, bracelet and movement generation. On vintage pieces, avoid treating replacement parts as minor details.
A Daytona purchase should begin with a precise reference target. Buying only the name is rarely enough.
